Job Summary of the PRN Imaging Assistant

Provides technical support to internal and external customers by efficiently performing a wide variety of tasks utilizing the Picture and Archive Communication System (PACS) and other hospital computer systems with the ultimate goal of accurate and efficient utilization of electronic/manual image and data storage, reporting and distribution methodologies. Exercises professional judgment in performance of duties and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.

Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities of the PRN Imaging Assistant

Monitor PACS queues for QA issues and changes the status of exams to insure data accuracy

Troubleshoot and resolve exam problems in order to meet established turn around goals

Utilize the Meditech system to acquire the necessary information to complete required tasks
:

Assist the radiologist, other physicians and staff in the execution of their duties by acting as a resource person for timely, effective use of services, both in electronic and manual modalities
:

Access reports and other patient or exam data via the Meditech/PACS and related software systems
:

-
Communicate reports and/or image data to the appropriate physician's office in a timely manner when necessary
:

Work with transcription services to ensure that reports are complete and accurate
:

Answer telephone in a courteous and professional manner and distributes calls as necessary
:

Deliver phone messages and/or information to the appropriate staff in a timely manner
:

-
Ensure that exams on the "Taken" pending list are read by a radiologist/physician in a timely manner to maintain the department's turn-around-time guidelines
:

Follow hospital and corporate guidelines/policies to maintain the confidentiality of Protected Health Information
:

-
Employee's conduct must reflect the Company's values and a commitment to the Code of Conduct ethics and compliance program

Employee will reflect SDH Service Excellence standards in every interaction

Assist in movement and transport of Imaging patients in order to maintain productive throughput and department turn-around-time goals

Qualifications of the PRN Imaging Assistant

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent OR proof of enrollment in or graduate of accredited university:

  • Preferred: Computer skills. Previous clerical experience in the hospital, front office, or medical billing office; knowledge of medical terminology.
