PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Provide quality parcel services to the LMU community by ensuring that the coordination, scheduling, processing, and delivery of all shipping and receiving of all parcels and packages are efficient, organized, and timely.


DIRECT SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY :
Distribution Center Clerks and student employees as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as the central coordinator for and direct all parcel receipts and delivery for the University community. Process, record, and maintain documentation on incoming materials both manually and in the automated receiving and tracking systems. Utilize a computerized tracking system and maintain delivery records including signatures of the recipients.

Coordinate and direct the shipping process. Prepare paperwork for all common carriers to accommodate the needs of the University. Deliver or pick up shipments throughout the University utilizing a cart or forklift.

Prepare all UPS, Fedex, and accounting reports. Utilize a computer program to compute the charges to be allocated to the various budget numbers.

Provide all accounting records and reports to the Processing Supervisor daily or whenever required by the Distribution Center's Accounting Procedures.

Provide support to LMU Graphics, bookstore, and Marriott in coordinating deliveries or temporary storage for products. Provide specialized support for other departments requiring delivery assistance, i.e. Project Management, Telecommunications, Conferences & Scheduling, as well as the Mail Center. Safely maintain the receiving dock area.

Coordinate, schedule, and supervise the activities of Distribution Center Clerks and student employees assigned to the Receiving area.

Maintain all databases for the UPS, Fedex, and other common carrier systems.


Assist with processing all incoming mail; cross-train in all Distribution Center functions, including on-campus mail delivery and processing and delivery of mail going to and from the post office.

III. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Stay current in the safety rules and certification in maintaining the forklift, cart, and pallet racks.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE:
UPS rules and regulations and those of most common carriers. Basic record keeping, filing, and inventory practices. Familiarity with shipping and receiving functions with experience on a computer in data entry. Safety practices for forklift operations and other shipping equipment.


ABILITY:
Ability to quickly learn the shipping and receiving operation and other areas of the Distribution Center. Perform detailed record keeping. Clearly and effectively communicate with trucking companies and their representatives as well as with the entire LMU community. Prioritize and process a high volume of incoming, outgoing, and intracampus shipments within mandatory daily deadlines. Maintain accurate manual and computerized records.


SKILLS:
Proficiency in math and basic accounting and bookkeeping principles.

Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with individuals at all levels of the university organizational structure, the LMU community, as well as trucking company representatives.

Demonstrated skill in written communication and in problem solving. Proficient on the computer in shipping and tracking systems.


EDUCATION:
High school diploma. Additional college classes or training desirable.


EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in shipping and receiving and warehouse work. Experience in operating a forklift. Forklift certification required. Supervisory experience desirable.


STAFF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Oversee student help in scheduling various campus deliveries or in the completion of assigned tasks.
