We are one of 84 institutes and research centers of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Sciences e.V. Our focus is on basic research.

Currently, our approximately 270 employees are divided into four departments and one Max Planck research group. In addition, the institute is part of the Health + Life Science Alliance Heidelberg-Mannheim - a collaboration of the leading life science research institutions in the region.

Our institute is looking for an apprentice to start on a trainee for precision mechanics (m/f/d).

What does a precision mechanic do?

Highest precision and understanding of technology

Some professions are truly fine. This applies, for example, to precision mechanics. Because here it's all about the highest precision down to the micrometer in tool and machine construction. You take care of the smallest components - whether on computer-controlled machine tools or on precision mechanical devices. At the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research at the Heidelberg science location, you are an important support for our scientists. You develop and build various parts for experiments or research setups. This means that you take on new and varied tasks again and again.
