POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position:
Director of Fund Development


Status:
Full-Time, Salaried


Reports to:

CEO

Position Summary:

Identify and expand donor base; responsible for donor research and donor database management, donor recognition, and special fund raising events.

Promotes positive community presences and mission enhancement utilizing a results-oriented approach to increase public awareness and name recognition for Independence First.

Collaborates with designated vendors and external and internal marketing team to develop, implement, and monitor the agency's:


  • Agency Fund Development Plan
  • Annual Fund Development Outreach Plan
Provides direct supervision for the Grants/ Fund Development Coordinator


Position Expected Hours of Work:
This is a Full-Time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Occasional evenings and weekends. Expected to be in the office, home, hybrid, or conducting agency business in the community during regular business hours. A minimum of 40 hours weekly may be required to complete job duties


Essential Functions of the Position:


Fund Development Responsibilities:


  • Direct and coordinate the agency's fund raising programs, to include the annual giving, major gifts, special gifts, planned giving, memorial and tribute, foundation and corporate contributions.
  • Develop and implement specific campaigns, planned giving, charitable trusts, endowments, and development projects.
  • Direct the production of annual fundraising events and appeals. Oversight of fund development/marketing events, including promotion, planning, and implementation.
  • Utilize management database to plan, implement, and evaluate specific fund development programs and campaigns; ensuring effective management, review and analysis of donor statistics and information is reported.
  • Develop and staff Board committee of fund development, responsible for activities associated with the committee.
  • May collaborate with agency grant writer to research foundation and governmental awards, prepare proposals, assist in preparation of annual reports, grant proposals and special appeals/projects as needed.
  • Assure the complete and thorough maintenance of all necessary documentation for timely and accurate recording of fund development activities.
  • Stays abreast of current events, new and trends to integrate into agency relationships and opportunities in the community.

Experience and Skills:


Professional Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of five years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and development, preferably with significant foundation and high donor fundraising experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Able to manage multiple, concurrent projects and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate excellence in organizational, managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience with website and newsletter production and message development.
  • Functional knowledge of current marketing and advertising practices, including Branding, PR, Storytelling, Social Media and Digital Marketing. Working knowledge of Photography and Videography, Print and Production process and techniques, Media Planning and buying, and Website dynamics.
  • Ability to work well with diverse individuals and balance a variety of needs.
  • Transportation mobile or ability to arrange transportation, within the fourcounty Metro Milwaukee area; some state and national travel required.
  • Experience with disabilities and Independent Living Philosophy preferred.
  • Must work well as a team member.
  • Research Skills required.
