JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Deputy General Manager at Penn State, you will assist the General Manager and/or Regional Associate Vice President in achieving company objectives at designated properties.

The Assistant General Manager will oversee daily operations to meet business targets and maximize profitability, as well as mentor team members, set performance goals, and maintain company standards.

To excel in this role, you must effectively lead and manage teams, ensure smooth operations, and reach revenue goals while thriving in a high-pressure setting with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

SALES:

  • Full oversight of all revenue-related activities such as tailgates and event rentals, including goal setting, forecasting, and executing sales strategies.
  • Active involvement in revenue generation through outbound sales, in-person meetings, and fostering community connections.
  • Cultivating and expanding relationships with university partners across various departments.
  • Implementing and supervising guest communication plans for tailgate and event rental clients.
  • Fostering a team culture centered on grace, accountability, attention to detail, and exceptional hospitality.
  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of financial records and key performance indicators to offer valuable insights to leadership.
  • Managing Accounts Payable and Receivable for all properties under your supervision.
  • Setting pricing and discounts with approval from the Vice President.
  • Leading and developing team members under your supervision.
  • Providing consistent feedback to staff regarding key performance metrics and company expectations.
  • Overseeing recruitment, training, and development of team members.
  • Supporting companywide initiatives and fostering adoption of policies and processes.

OPERATIONS:

  • Enhancing current systems including quality control, maintenance, inventory, and process management.
  • Engaging in strategic planning and predicting trends.
  • Ensuring compliance with company initiatives and process enhancements.
  • Supervising the team to prioritize quality control and guest relations during setup and event days.
  • Managing event layout, design, and oversight of event rental and tailgate special events.
  • Monitoring the labor budget and handling relationships with key vendors.
  • Overseeing facility management, including warehouse and office organization, facility maintenance, and cleaning services.
  • Managing fleet operations, inventory, repair schedules, and security compliance.
  • Strictly monitoring expenses such as hourly labor, game day costs, and office expenditures.
