Job Summary:


The Department of Economic Security, Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Quality Assurance Analyst for the Family Assistance Administration (FAA) Systems unit.

Under limited supervision, the Quality Assurance Analyst creates and executes System Request (SR) and other related test plans, test cases, use cases, regression testing, performance testing, and test scripts, and working within established guidelines, methods, and parameters while documenting testing phases and defects.

After-hours post-migration certification working with technical support to resolve any production issues and conducts compatibility test with vendor-provided programs. Creates test logs documenting testing phases and defects.


This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct research and analysis of build items utilizing policy and other resources based on requirements and design specifications.
  • Provide input to test coverage based on requirements and design specifications; additionally, review, identify, document, and report test results.
  • Monitor program performance after implementation to prevent reoccurrence of program/software operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation and retest when appropriate.
  • Open tickets and log details and test results in appropriate systems and folders elevating issues to vendor and contest ticket closure notes and participate in retesting; including, update tasks in appropriate systems and folders.
  • Prioritize work activities, set goals and objectives, uses time efficiently, and communicates activities and issues appropriately and in a professional manner.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, training, Desk-Aids, and/or associated materials to technical and nontechnical audiences; also, write accurate software problem reports based on test results for complex projects.
  • Serves on project and/or pilots (develop Workplan, monitor, schedule, etc.) to provide testing guidance working collaboratively with the Analyst on requirements to ensure integration between testing cases and business requirements to ensure timely and successful completion.
  • Regularly participates in meetings, daily scrums, etc. to review assigned and completed tasks communicating activities and results as appropriate.
  • Work crossfunctionally with teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Law, rules, security policies, privacy, and management of confidential data.
  • Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Software development processes including analysis, design, system and user testing, and problem resolution planning.
  • Project management concepts, principles, and practices.
  • English language for sentence structure, composition, content, spelling, and grammar.

Skilled in:

  • Research and analysis, design review, troubleshooting for testing activities and Quality Assurance skills.
  • Problem and negotiation skills to resolve issues using a customercentric approach, providing feedback, and fostering internal and external relationships.
  • Time management and organizational skills with attention to detail and prioritize work activities to meet commitments.
  • Effective listening, interpersonal oral and written communication skills to write and communicate technical and nontechnical concepts to a variety of audiences.

Ability to:

  • Work independently or collaboratively under stress and or pressure to improve operations and streamline work processes building strong relationships inside and outside the organ
