Job Summary:


As an Ultrasound Technician at the Southern Arizona VA Healthcare System, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our nation's veterans.

You will utilize your expertise in ultrasound technology to produce clear and accurate images, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.

40 hours per week depending on the FTEE and clinic location.


Primary Responsibilities:

Adherence to ARRT and ARDMS Practice Guidelines: Ensure compliance with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards. By adhering to these standards, you will contribute to the improvement of the quality of services provided to patients.


Promotion of Safe and Effective Use of Diagnostic Radiology:
Demonstrate proficiency in the safe and effective use of diagnostic radiology techniques. Describe specific training, skills, and techniques necessary for the proper utilization of ultrasound technology. Promote safety protocols to minimize risks and enhance patient care.


Radiology Modalities:

Specialize in ultrasound imaging, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment to perform a variety of scans including but not limited to abdominal, genitourinary, breast, cardiovascular/extremity, pelvic, and small parts imaging


Organ-Specific and Subspecialty-Specific Imaging:

Conduct organ-specific and subspecialty-specific imaging of adults, including examinations of the abdomen (gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems), breast imaging, and cardiovascular/extremity imaging.

Utilize your expertise to accurately assess and diagnose medical conditions in these areas.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
  • Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Proficiency in performing ultrasound examinations across various organ systems and subspecialties.
  • Knowledge of ARRT and ARDMS Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
