Summary:

The incumbent will receive, distribute, accession, log slides for patient care.

Customer service skills are mandatory and the incumbent will act as a liaison on behalf of the department and interact with all levels from management, to physician, to patients' and their family members.


Responsibilities:


1) Typing skills need to be at least a minimum of 55 words per minute with 85% accuracy.


2) Ability to operate PC equipment and other office equipment as specified.


3) Ability to answer multi-line phone and appropriately direct calls, or problem solves the call - take ownership of call.


4) Ability to sort and file clinical patient care reports in alpha/numeric order.


5) Flexibility and willingness to adapt to meet department needs (under supervision), multitask.


6) Must take initiative in performing and completing tasks.


7) Detail oriented, able to concentrate, and work under pressure with time constraints.


8) Ability to use designated professional reference materials to include the internet.


9) Interacts regularly with all levels of personnel, from MDs, management to peers and patients and their families requiring tact and diplomacy.


10) Adheres to proper dress code.


11) Learn slide delivery procedure.


12) Introduction to STAT calls (frozen sections, fresh specimens, and needle aspirations) and communicates, via web paging and/or Cortexting all necessary patient information.


Required Work Experience:


1) At least one year experience in a medical office setting.


Preferred Work Experience:


1) Basic knowledge of medical terminology.


Skills and Competencies:


1) Basic typing skills with a minimum of 55 words per minute with 85% accuracy.


2) Proven skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, style and editing, excellent listening skills.


3) Speak, read, write English clearly and concisely.


4) Excellent telephone communication and interpersonal skills.


5) Meets minimum requirements for 90 day new employee evaluation.


6) Meets PPIF training competencies depending upon accountabilities.


7) Typing skills need to be at least a minimum of 55 words per minute with 85% accuracy.


8) Proven skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, style and editing.


9) Excellent eye, hand, and auditory coordination, and excellent listening skills.
