Summary
This Certified position provides individual recovery sessions, group sessions, crisis intervention for clients in outpatient addiction treatment aimed at sobriety and/or harm reduction and improving client's capacity to attain and sustain income and housing.
This position will also work as a part of our Street Health team, providing addiction outreach and services to people experiencing homelessness and living on the street.
May provide support for AOD Counselor Interns. Will assist with MAT and on call walk in office hours. Position requires certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor.Essential Functions
- AOD Assessments, individual counseling, group counseling, treatment planning, minor case management, and referrals/coordination for other appropriate services. Provides individual recovery sessions to clients and completes accompanying session documentation in database. Prepares curriculum materials & provides group treatment sessions for clients.
- Completes timely clinical documentation and participates in weekly peer review and MAS meetings.
- Supports other staff by assisting with referrals, performing outreach, attending Multidisciplinary Approach to Services, discussing mutual clients,
- Monitor client progress and modify their treatment plans as needed.
- Coordinate with social and medical agencies, healthcare providers and community outreach programs to provide clients with needed services.
- Provides Psychoeducational training on Harm Reduction and NARCAN Training
- Educate staff across the Village and at satellite locations on the importance of Narcan; how it works and how to administer the medication.
- MAT Supportive Counseling
- Available for same day and oncall supportive counseling for MAT clients/patients.
- Complete continuing education courses to maintain Counselor certification and stay uptodate on the latest practices.
- Train and support new interns.
- Ability to function independently while also working closely with multidisciplinary team to coordinate care.
- Follow up on referrals from FJV and community.
- Attends weekly supervision.
- On time completion of assigned training and policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associates and/or Bachelor's Degree in counseling or related field.
- At least 1 year of experience working with clients experiencing homelessness, low income or at risk population, and
- Certified as Counselor with an accredited AOD Certificate program.
- Current registration with CADTP, CAADE or CCAPP.
- Basic user of MS Office and electronic health record systems
- CPR certified (can be obtained after hire)
- Participate in an annual Tuberculosis screening and/or other screenings when necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be granted where appropriate.
- Superb verbal and written communication skills.
- Good time management skills.
