The Regional Association Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Nord, founded in 1991, with local associations in Rostock, Rügen, and Stralsund, covers the districts of Rostock and Vorpommern-Rügen.

The regional office is located in Rostock, where the administration of the regional association, the emergency call center, the transportation service, the training department, and the departments of medical and rescue services are also located.

Around 100 full-time employees and over 50 volunteers are involved in the regional association.
