SUMMARY:
The Digital Content Producer plays a crucial role in developing the digital communications of one of the largest transportation systems in the world.
The Digital Content Producer will work across teams to produce and revise content for the MTA's customer-facing platforms, such as its website and newsletters.
The role will report to the MTA's Website Content Strategist and assist with critical initiatives aimed at ensuring a seamless and engaging customer experience across all MTA services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produce new written content for the MTA website ) in collaboration with Website Content Strategist.
- Review existing website content for accuracy, usability and make edits to content as needed.
- Work with other MTA departments to review and approve website content.
- Assist with major projects for the Customer Experience division, including research and datagathering, user testing, quality assurance, and more.
- Train editors and writers on the MTA's Drupal content management system.
- Maintain and update internal documentation related to the MTA's customer content channels.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Superior writing ability, including enthusiasm for writing at a lower grade level and simplifying complicated ideas.
- Familiar with usercentric principles.
- Experience with a website content management system (Drupal, WordPress, Contently, or similar).
- Superior attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Some experience with content design, or strong opinions about website layouts and making content structured and discoverable.
- Some basic understanding of how to convey information visually, or how to work with designers to use words and pictures to their full effect.
- May need to work outside of normal work hours (i.e., evenings and weekends).
- Travel may be required to other MTA locations or other external sites.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma and a minimum of 2 years' experience in communications, digital production, content creation, or another role that involved writing for the public.
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in communications, digital media, marketing, or journalism or a related field and or a Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience with product or project management software such as JIRA, Trello, Airtable, Asana, Monday or comparable.
- Knowledge of MTA history and operations.
