Position Summary


Thales is looking for a
Procurement Project Manager "PPM" who is the procurement voice of the business line and the link between the business stakeholders and the Global Procurement organization (Global Category Managers/Category Managers-Buyers).

The Identity and Biometric Solutions "IBS" PPM will secure an early procurement involvement and will function as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders' community for projects, bids, process/product improvements and cost reduction initiatives.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Work with the business team to gather requirements (technical and commercial) and develop the procurement strategy for the each bid/project; ensure this strategy is in line with customer contractual requirements (flow down).
  • Develop the acquisition plan to validate the procurement strategy across the project/bid, formulate and implement the make/team/buy analysis accordingly and leverage subcontracting whenever applicable.
  • Ensure relevant governance is complied with, including delegation of authority, acquisition log, purchasing summary sheets, procurement vetting process and gate reviews.
  • Be responsible for the procurement work package management and communicate project inputs, status and development to all functions involved until project is finalized.
  • Monitor the procurement costs through the project lifecycle, identify gaps with the initial plan and opportunities for cost reduction; monitor Total Cost of Ownership through project implementation.
  • Collaborate with and influence stakeholders on methodology for achieving the desired result, schedule and budget/savings expectations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain or Engineering or, in lieu of a degree, 6 years of relevant, exempt experience as equivalency
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement and/or project management
  • At least 3 years of experience monitoring budget and leading savings delivery
  • Excellent team player with proven ability to accomplish goals through collaboration within a global matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership in different domains including process improvement and business partnership opportunities.
