Facility Attendant for Jewett Park Community Center
The Deerfield Park District has a mission to provide outstanding parks, services, facilities, and recreation programs that enrich lives, promote healthy living, and provide memorable experiences.
To support our over 25 parks and facilities we have a dedicated and diverse workforce of over 500 staff seasonally.
We are an award-winning Park District with multiple distinctions of excellence, including our Best Workplace for Commuters.The Facility Attendant will supervise the building, perform custodial and customer service duties.
Essential Functions:
- Unlock/lock JPCC and prepare building for programming.
- Set up rooms with tables/chairs for programming changes.
- Assist instructors and patrons as needed.
- Light custodial duties, such as emptying garbage, cleaning up spills, fill paper in copy machines.
- Required to work varied shifts, days and hours as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Marginal Functions:
- Perform basic custodial duties.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Contacts Outside of Own Department:
- Members of the public.
- Other Park District staff members.
Tools and Equipment Used:
- Vacuum cleaner
- Custodial equipment
Physical and Mental Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk 75100% of time.
- The employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- The employee is regularly required to communicate with staff and others.
- The employee is frequently required to use hands and/or fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls.
- The employee must regularly lift and carry objects, and occasionally lift and/or move up 20 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Specific psychological demands of this job include the ability to remain calm under stress levels associated with constant public contact.
Working Conditions:
- The employee is regularly exposed to noise levels associated with crowds in an enclosed indoor space.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather.
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
- High school degree or equivalent.
- General maintenance skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship skills, coupled with strong communication skills having the ability to represent the Deerfield Park District in a professional manner.
- Employee must possess a genuine desire and ability to interact with people of all ages and temperaments.
- Ability to multitask.
Safety:
- This employee is responsible for being aware of and contributing to the maintenance and implementation of all Deerfield Park District safety policies and procedures.
- Required to:
- Use good safety awareness and judgment.
- Follow policies.
- Report potentially unsafe conditions.
- Follow manufacturer safety instructions when using equipment.
- Follow agency ergonomic policies and procedures.
