The Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology IZI conducts research and develops specialized solutions at the interfaces of medicine, life sciences, and engineering.

For our working group "Clinical Gene Transfer", we are looking for a Technical Assistant or Biology Laboratory Technician at our Leipzig location as soon as possible. The newly established working group focuses on fundamental molecular biology, cellular regulation, and genetic applications of transposable elements (transposons). The use of transposon-based gene vectors for genetic manipulation of mammalian cells (including humans) is currently on the rise. Based on this, the group develops innovative, non-viral gene transfer technologies in the fields of gene therapy and regenerative medicine with the aim of bringing these technologies into clinical use.

What you will do
  • You will support the scientific staff in the development and testing of new transposon constructs.
  • In doing so, you will prepare molecular biology reagents and perform cell transfections and reporter assays.
  • To identify transposon insertion sites using PCR-based methods, you will prepare PCR libraries for next-generation sequencing.
