The Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) of the Immigration Unit in the Policy Development Branch (PDB), of the Medi-Cal Eligibility Division (MCED), is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and management of a unit of staff comprised of up to five analysts.

The unit is responsible for a variety of assignments related to the design and implementation of several significant high profile projects including health care reform and Medi-Cal Programs including but not limited to citizenship, alienage, immigration status, California residency, verifications, Refugee Medical Assistance, federal claiming, Craig v.

Bonta, medical support enforcement and the Aid Codes associated with these programs.

In addition, the SSM I will perform and supervise a wide variety of administrative and analytical assignments including Budget Change Proposals, Legislation and Regulations.

The supervisor will work with Branch experts on eligibility criteria for Medi-Cal programs and other staff from throughout the Medi-Cal program, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, County Welfare Directors Association, Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Legal Staff, Covered California, California Healthcare Eligibility, Enrollment and Retention System, Statewide Automated Welfare System, California Department of Social Services, United States Department of Homeland Security, and the Social Security Administration in the creation of policies, procedures, and systems to implement and maintain a variety of Medi-Cal Programs.

The supervisor will develop extensive knowledge of the various programs in order to train and supervise the staff, represent the program at meetings and to the public and write, review and edit documents created within the Branch that provide procedures and policy guidance to counties, departmental management and the public.
