The person in this role works in the Ultrasound section of the Diagnostic Radiology department at Northport Veterans Administration Medical Center, a 1C facility.Responsibilities for this position include:
- Performing standard and complex ultrasound scans for inpatients, outpatients, and emergency room patients independently.
- Assessing the need for additional scans and organizing patient appointments accordingly.
- Keeping records and imaging files of examined patients.
- As this role focuses solely on ultrasound duties (without ionizing radiation), it should be filled by a Medical Instrument Technician, GS-649 series.
- Utilizing high-frequency sound waves and other techniques for medical diagnostic purposes.
- Being skilled in producing, using, recognizing, and analyzing ultrasound images for patient care.
- Acting as the main source of expertise in ultrasound imaging, assisting radiologists in interpreting results.
- Specializing in various aspects of ultrasound imaging.
- Performing any additional tasks within the scope of Diagnostic Medical Sonography practices.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; weekends and holidays off.
