    Overview:

    The National Sales Manager for Canada is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategic and tactical plan for achieving wholesale revenue and margin targets, retail growth targets, and successful key account partnerships through effective management of distributor partners, strategic retail accounts, and neighborhood pet channel customers across the Canadian market.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead channel and customer development for Canada
    • Set and achieve revenue and retail sales goals for Canadian key account partners
    • Develop and execute marketing and training programs with key account partners to efficiently drive profitable revenue growth.
    • Effectively manager senior level relationships to ensure Vital Essentials is a partner of choice for new programs and initiatives
    • Conduct quarterly business reviews to identify and align on opportunities to grow the category and Vital Essentials business
    • Effectively partner with and leverage distributor sales representatives to Identify, nurture, and open relationships with new independent retail stores
    • Identify SKU gap opportunities and develop plans to close gaps at existing Vital Essentials retail partners
    • Ensure all Vital Essentials categories are represented in retail partner stores
    • Identify and relaunch former Vital Essentials retail partners lost over time
    • Achieve sales quotas and targets and report on deviations.
    • Train retail store teams on the benefits of Vital Essentials products
    • Manage trade spend to ensure profitable growth
    • Ensure participation in Vital Essentials programs (Loyalty, Vital Pack Leader, Butcher Cut University)
    • Work with stores to secure effective merchandising and incremental placement
    • Manage distributor relationships and serve as the liaison and point of contact for Canadian distribution leadership, working effectively to secure needed resources to support our distribution partners
    • Develop a trusting relationship between distributor partners and VItal Essentials, ensuring Vital Essentials is top of mind for new opportunities
    • Generate forecasts and regular business reviews to track progress towards goals
    • Hold distributor partners accountable for driving focus of Vital Essentials in stores and with distributor associates
    • Lead a future Vital Essentials Canadian field sales organization to effectively and profitably grow the Vital Essentials brand across the Canadian Neighborhood Pet channel
    • Serve as the subject matter expert on the Canadian marketplace and specific needs required to ensure Vital Essentials' successful growth.
    • Advocate internally for needs in the Canadian marketplace and partner with internal Vital Essentials' departments to ensure tactical execution of needs like country specific marketing collateral
    • Advise Vital Essentials on Canadian marketplace laws, regulations and trends

    A successful Vital Essentials National Sales Manager will:

    First 30 days:

    • Complete Training on Carnivore organization, mission, culture, team, products, and role responsibilities
    • Complete Nutrition Specialist Certifications via third party training platform
    • Schedule and complete introductory calls with distributor and key account partners
    • Leveraging existing retailer relationships, identify and secure early wins in new store placement or substantial SKU gap fill in key accounts

    First 60 days:

    • Complete ride-alongs with 30% of distributor rep counterparts
    • Schedule balance of year plans for in person distributor trainings and ride-alongs
    • Meet with top 10 key accounts to plan strategy for balance of year
    • Leveraging existing retailer relationships, identify and secure early wins in new store placement or SKU gap fill in 10 additional accounts.
    • In partnership with with VP of Sales and Chief Commercial Officer, develop and present Canadian strategy for balance of year and early look at 2025 strategy

    First 90 days:

    • Complete ride-alongs with additional 30% of distributor rep counterparts
    • Sustain monthly wholesale sales growth of 15%+ in your territory

    First 6 months:

    • Complete ride-alongs with final 40% of distributor rep counterparts
    • Sustain monthly wholesale sales growth of 15%+ in your territory

    First year:

    • Set foundation and strategy for multi-year Canadian growth and retail penetration including high level revenue and margin outlook through 2026

    Ongoing:

    • Develop and implement key strategic programs with our most valuable customers.
    • Report issues with regards to the food safety/quality assurance system (FSQA) to Leadership and adhere to the requirements of the FSQA standards.
    • Consistently meet and surpass sales targets through problem solving and relationship building with decision makers in the retail and distribution space.
    • Continuously hunt for new opportunities to grow the VE business
    Requirements:

    Qualified applicants will have:

    • A minimum of 5 years experience in the independent pet specialty channel working with distributors to expand rooftops and item penetration, preferably with a high growth pet food brand or distributor
    • Experience and comfort calling on senior leaders of regional chain accounts
    • Experience securing placement from competitors by developing comprehensive solutions tailored to an individual retailer's market dynamics
    • An ability to travel at least 50% of the time, along with a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance
