    Description


    The position provides structural engineering and design services to all activities and tenants for a broad range of facilities, served by Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), in a Regional Office in San Diego.

    This includes a large number of customer activities with varied missions, dispersed over a sizable geographical southwest region with numerous facility types, ranging from administrative and housing facilities to very complex industrial and operational facilities.

    NAVFAC is the Department of Defense (DoD) design and construction agent for facilities construction, including the Military Construction (MILCON) program.

    Under supervision the employee provides timely and professional structural engineering products, services and consultation for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands, including minor works projects, specific projects, special projects, military construction (MILCON), waterfront projects, demolition, maintenance, space utilization and facilities development.


    Resonsibilities include:
    Structural design analysis, evaluation and calculation using advanced structural engineering software, i.e. RISA, Enercalc, Whole Building Design Guide, AutoCad, REVIT, SpecsIntact Technologies, etc. Includes drafting and specifications.

    Investigate and evaluate structural issues and concerns in existing facilities, and develop reports that include recommendations and options for remediation or corrective measures as applicable.

    Perform quality assurance review of drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and studies prepared by A/E design firms.
    Prepare statement of work and government estimates for design and assists in negotiations.
    Serve as Contracting Officer's Representative in the administration, oversight, and performance assessment of A/E contracts.
    Analyze and design extensive structural alterations and modifications to existing facilities

    Candidate must have experience in structural design, use of ACAD/REVIT, strong communication skills, and design management. Knowledge of waterfront engineering is not required, but is highly desirable.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
    Valid Driver's License
    Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering
    Must hold U.S. Citizenship
    Aged 18 or older at time of hire
    Males born after must be registered for Selective Service.
