Job Title: Electrical and HVAC Systems Technician at Amtrak

Responsibilities:

Responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining electrical, electronic, and HVAC systems on rolling stock equipment and components in accordance with FRA and Amtrak standards and guidelines.

Essential Functions:

Performs inspection, testing, and maintenance following 49CFR regulations and Amtrak standards
Utilizes various test equipment, PCs, and graphic information to diagnose malfunctions, troubleshoot, and qualify components and circuits for corrective actions and identifying causes of equipment failures
Repairs and/or replaces doors, electronics, signs, pantographs, and HVAC systems
Installs components like motors, generators, switches, relays, batteries, and transformers
Performs approved electrical modifications, repairs, or replaces components as needed
Troubleshoots equipment to identify corrective actions and root causes of failures
Maintains proper care and use of materials, test equipment, machines, and hand tools relevant to the job
Works on electrical systems and components with AC and DC voltage

Minimum Qualifications:

HVAC experience
High School Diploma or GED
Experience in electrical repairs, testing advanced electrical/electronic systems, and interpreting circuit diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings
Experience in both AC and DC electrical systems
Successful completion of training and acquisition/maintenance of required certifications
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
Ability to troubleshoot using schematics and multimeters, coupled with knowledge of electrical tools and equipment
Some computer skills

Preferred Qualifications & Work Environment:

Experience in maintaining railroad equipment
Completion of technical school or apprenticeship program

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills

The position offers an hourly rate of $36.85, with opportunities for increases based on the applicable collective bargaining agreement post-employment initiation.
