This is a unique opportunity to work with George Wesbey MD, founder of the cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) programs at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.

Dr.

Wesbey is a pioneer in the field of cardiovascular magnetic resonance, publishing research focusing on the use of this technology and contrast agents.

His current research in cardiac CT focuses on using ultra-low radiation doses to detect coronary artery disease using CT-fractional flow reserve.


Responsibilities include:

  • Designs, conducts and assists with biomedical research or experimental protocols involving cardiac imaging and /or treatment outcomes.
  • Duties include analysis of results and appropriate peer review reporting of results; protocol writing to achieve valid experimental results by academic standards; and oversight of experiment operations applicable to areas of scientific inquiry is responsible for.
  • Other responsibilities include training other research personnel in research procedures, and oversight of study implementation.

Experience/Specialized Skills:


  • Appropriate to the assigned research projects, preferred skills may include database management, grantsmanship, medical and nursing research protocol design, manuscript/abstract/presentation preparation.
  • Preferred computer skills may include demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Adobe Photoshop.
  • Proficiency in basic biostatistical analysis required. Commensurate with the academic professional level anticipated for the research activities, required grant design, result reporting, budget development and scientific writing skills (to include protocol design, abstract, poster and computer media presentations) will be evidenced. Experience in analyzing and tracking budget performance for multiple simple to complex projects required.

Required Education/Course(s)/Training:


  • PhD/MD with emphasis in life science, epidemiology or other field of study with direct applicability to biomedical and health research.

Position Pay Range:
$34.98-$52.47/hour
