Job Summary


The Warehouse and Logistics manager will be responsible for directly managing the warehouse team, on site and third party warehousing operations, and other outbound logistics activities.

Perform all duties within the guidelines of Company's safety, health & environmental regulations. All other duties as assigned by management.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Key Duties:

  • To coordinate sales and shipping requirements, which include stock selection and consolidation to satisfy shipping deadlines. Shipping requirements may not be aligned with site stock and production activities requiring short term problem solving. This may be extended to include managing logistics for the delivery of certain raw materials that are purchased exworks from suppliers. Regular review of production schedules to ensure that any changes and their impacts on availability are minimized and communicated.
  • The arrangement and consolidation of goods for transportation from contract manufacturers to stock locations and customers at acceptable freight cost
  • To make decisions on a wide range of production planning, movement of goods and purchasing issues within authority limits and to deal with problems encountered, escalating if an acceptable resolution is considered not to be possible.
  • To drive procedural, quality and operational performance improvement in warehouse operations and report on picking accuracy, costs, DOTp.
  • To directly manage warehouse ops assigning work, setting objectives, priorities, targets and reviewing performance for both on site and at 3PL Warehouses. To recruit, develop competency and manage the performance of the warehousing team supporting operational performance improvement. To manage the daytoday warehouse operations (inc. 3PL) to ensure that stock values and volumes are within acceptable limits without compromising delivery performance or working capital management. To deputize for the Planning & Logistics Manager
  • To plan and align resources, both internal and externally, to prioritize site activity to achieve short (1 week) to medium (3 Months) term shipping demands. Planning activities may involve setting stock levels with the business.
  • To select and manage hauliers and contracted drivers to ensure compliance with value, logistics, SHE and Quality requirements. Decision making on shipping changes is done through liaison with sales and production planning. Contracted hauliers may also provide site logistics (including to and from offsite storage facilities) as well as customer deliveries. Negotiation with hauliers to ensure that acceptable transport costs are agreed and that acceptable standards of service are provided. Engagement with hauliers can involve hard negotiation, influence, and creativity in order to achieve target delivery and collection dates within acceptable costs.
  • To develop improved working methods for meeting sales and shipping deadlines and improving the quality of shipped material. Negotiation and purchase of indirect spend items and routine office / warehousing services within agreed authority limits.

Qualifications

Education and Training:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field.


Knowledge and Experience:

  • Knowledge of site products.
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP processes in the Sales & Distribution, Production Planning and Materials Management modules.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills written and verbal.
  • Ability to plan multiple activities with competing priorities.
  • Competent user of MS Office packages

Physical Demands:
Able to walk, stand or sit for a minimum of 8 hours per day. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
