Our Techs enjoy exposure to a wide variety of services including Da Vinci robotics. Our friendly, diverse staff are a collaborative group that all strive to achieve the same goals. We have supportive management and open communication within the department. Our Endo Techs work independently and efficiently to manually clean and do High Level Disinfection of the various Endoscopes which includes specialized scopes and instruments that are used in the Operating Room, ICUs and Endoscopy Lab.

    Experience and Education


    · One (1) year minimum experience is required as a Sterile Processing Technician

    · Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.

    · Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) or Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) required within 12 months of hire.

    · Ability to operate basic/standard pieces of Endoscopic High-Level Disinfectors and associated equipment.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
    • Must be able to key in data into touchscreen programmable devices
    • Work requires good organizational and communication skills
    • Certification and annual competencies must be maintained

    Job Duties

    • Handle equipment carefully as per the required standards in order to prevent damage and repair
    • Perform manual cleaning as outlined by the manufacturer's instructions for use
    • Performs ATP tests on all ERCP and Linear EUS scopes as outlined in policy and keeps record in logbook
    • Identifies appropriate adaptors for specific scopes prior to placement in High Level Disinfectors
    • Maintains thorough and accurate record keeping of patient use cards
    • Ensures that all the steps of HLD is complete by verifying the reprocessing printout for every scope
    • Hangs scopes in appropriate cabinet in such a way that they do not touch each other.
    • Performs weekly scope reprocessing on outdated scopes as per policy
      • Labels all packaged items, sterilization tags and log books with the initials of the preparer
    • Loads, operates and unloads High Level Disinfectors according to manufacturer's instructions
    • Performs correct biological monitoring and testing per method of HLD
    • Inspects and cleans High Level Disinfectors as needed and according to IFU
    • Ensure all supplies are maintained and expirations are kept up to date
    • Able to distinguish between items that need to be reprocessed and that are disposable
    • Communicates and utilizes proper telephone etiquette and speaks clearly
    • Escalates any problems and communicates with supervisor if help is needed
    • Serves as a subject matter resource person and or preceptor of new staff
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Work is performed primarily in a hospital or hospital clinic environment. Walking, standing, bending, turning and stooping. Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums require prior approval of the Vice President for Human Resources Administration, or his/her designee.
