The Work

This position is for a Software Engineering Associate Manager supporting the Ship Integration and Test (SI&T) organization at RMS, Mount Laurel, NJ.

The Associate Manager will provide leadership and functional management for approximately 8 engineers and support personnel that make up the Ship I&T Software Team.

This Software team is broken into two distinct functions:
Business Applications and Virtualization.

The Associate Manager will oversee the development and maintenance of Ship I&T internal and external software tools that make up our Business Application tool suite and you will oversee the Augmented/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) work that supports Ship I&T, RMS internal customers, external customers including NAVSEA, PEO IWS, and the MDA.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead on-site and virtual agile teams to deploy capabilities for Ship I&T internal and external tools
  • Lead and implement long term organizational objectives for software process improvement
  • Work with Business Development and other RMS organizations to drive strategic changes in alignment with Digital Transformation (Dx)
  • Manage Stakeholder relationships, engagements, and buyin
  • Hire and retain talent
  • Assign tasking, considering budget constraints, ability, schedule, and retention
  • Participate in business captures
  • Estimate Labor, completing ROMs, BOEs, and Cost Estimates
  • Maintain budgets
  • Review deliverables

Basic Qualifications:


  • BS Degree in science and technology related programs such as Computer-Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics etc.
  • Previous experience as a Software Engineer in an Agile environment with technical writing experience
  • Knowledge of basic software practices such as coding standards, unit testing and configuration management, database and System administration
  • Applicant must be able to obtain a security clearance
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders and teams
  • Proven leadership experience as a former leader or an individual contributor.

Desired Skills:


  • Master's Degree in Engineering Management, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering preferred


  • Familiar with Java

  • Hibernate/MySQL, PdfBox, Vaadin
  • Familiar with Jakarta EE, jsf, PrimeFaces, Torque, Apache POI, and iText


  • Data Base Engineering

  • SQL
  • Experience in developing and deploying software on cloudbased platforms to leverage the benefits of cloud technologies
  • Proficiency in infrastructure automation tools to streamline and optimize various tasks

Security Clearance Statement:
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely:
Part-time

Remote Telework:

The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.


Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed.

These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.


Schedule for this Position:4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
