- Assist in implementing curriculum and individual education plans (IEPs) under the guidance of special education teachers.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, focusing on academic, social, and life skills development.
- Assist in managing classroom behavior and creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Support students with physical needs, including mobility assistance and personal care, as necessary.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to monitor and report on student progress.
- Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom organization and management.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and team meetings to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.
- Associate degree or higher, preferably in Education, Special Education, or a related field. Paraprofessional certification is expected. Can be trained for certification on the job.
- Previous experience working with children, especially those with special needs, is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students with diverse educational needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Physical capability to perform job responsibilities, including the ability to assist with student mobility and transportation needs.
