- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Must pass background examinations (included with training)
- Must be able to be in the water for a minimum of a three hour shift in a warm and humid environment
- Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum
- Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents
- Evaluates student's progress and completes required paperwork in a timely manner
- Interacts professionally with parents/guardians after each swim lesson on the activities and development of students swim skills
- Uses problem-solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter
- Assists with setting up the pool prior to lessons and cleaning up after lessons, including proper storage of all pool equipment and lane lines
- Attend required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours
- No experience is necessary. This is a great first job and part-time job for teenagers in high school and/or college students. Of course, we also have more senior positions -- such as a DECK SUPERVISOR -- where experienced Aquatics professionals can advance and thrive
- Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, and/or childcare provider a plus
- Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification will be required. For those not certified, Goldfish Swim School provides certification courses in our facility, which all employees are required to complete within 3 months of employment.

Job DescriptionThe Goldfish Swim School facility in Yorktown Heights teaches children to learn how to swim and be safe in and around the water.
As a swim instructor, youll be in tropical 90-degree water, teaching swim lessons to children ages four months to 12 years old. Parents trust you to teach their children this life-saving skill with patience, energy, and enthusiasm. Successful employees at Goldfish love working with children and are committed to providing extraordinary results to every child who comes to our facility. They are team players who are comfortable receiving feedback to become better swim instructors. They are professional, punctual and accountable.
