The CAC is a critical component of the Cabin Air Conditioning and Temperature Control System (CACTCS) and is a key enabler of more-electric aircraft architectures.

The CAC Senior Principal Engineer is responsible for project execution, including technical, cost, schedule, and quality requirements. This role reports directly to the 787 Program Chief Engineer and interfaces closely with program managers, product line leadership, and operations to ensure efficient communication and alignment of priorities. It also requires close integration with the Electrical Power System (EPS) team and external suppliers. The CAC Senior Principal Engineer interfaces directly with the Boeing engineering customer on a regular basis.

  • Support executive and customer presentations, including engagements with Boeing and airline operators.
  • Manage cost-reduction activities and mitigate producibility risks.
  • Learn and become proficient in the system architecture, performance, and operation of the Cabin Air Conditioning and Temperature Control System (CACTCS).
  • Drive efforts to identify, prioritize, and eliminate sources of CAC reliability issues through collaboration with Product Line leadership and feedback from in-service fleet operators.
  • Lead core project-management activities, including requirements management, risk management, change review board participation, and processing change requests.
  • Manage project budgets and monthly EVMS activities, including Estimate-at-Complete forecasts, variance reporting, and engineering resource planning through direct coordination with systems integration and component functional leads.
  • Drive execution of supplier transitions related to the CAC.
  • Support the development of prognostic health-management analytics for the CAC.

  • Familiarity with turbomachinery and electric motors
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics principles
  • Experience with design processes and functional requirements development
