Description
The
Buyer sources and purchases good and services, for either specific departments or for multiple areas. Ensures contract compliance and maximization as well as great customer service.


Primary duties include:

  • Purchasing:
  • Determines the best quantities and most costeffective point in time to purchase supplies by understanding of past usage history, lead times, and consequences of being out of stock.
  • Continually looks for cost savings opportunities for lowering costs.
  • Orders a full range of medical products and services. Processes a high volume or orders and continually prioritizes work to reflect the demands of patient care.
  • Evaluates procurement activities for opportunities to add new items, create or edit templates to improve processes for requesters.
  • Acquire current pricing information for many contracts. Monitors pricing and forwards any changes to necessary department/individuals.
  • Negotiates with vendors to obtain the best value.
  • In the event of product not being available, works with vendors to search for and investigate alternative sources of supply for product substitutions and replacements.

Issue Resolution and Process Improvement:

  • Investigates issues related to invoice and material discrepancies and payment issues. Coordinates with appropriate departments and/or individuals to resolve problems encountered with invoices or delivery, including resolution of "credit holds."
  • Identifies and anticipates potential delayed deliveries. Takes proactive measures to avoid stockouts by coordinating rapid shipping, contracting alternate sources or demanding intervention by the manufacturers sales representatives.
  • Identifies errors in the Inventory Management System and takes appropriate measures to correct them.
  • Develops and maintains vendor performance records and makes recommendations for corrective action when required.
  • Acts as a resource to end users of the Inventory Management System.

Qualifications Include:

~Associate's degree or equivalent work experience
- ~3 years relevant experience
- ~Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- ~Aptitude from problem solving
- ~Ability to deal with people effectively and respond professionally in all situations.
