The Board of Trustees of the
Collegiate Academy of Mathematics and Personal Awareness Charter School (CAMPA) seeks an experienced NYS certified (preferred) school leader to lead a small independent middle school (grades 6-8) in East New York, Brooklyn.


CAMPA pairs a math-focused academic program with personal awareness to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive. CAMPA is an intimate setting with approximately 110 students who have met or exceeded achievement indicators for academic trends toward proficiency. Many of our students receive NYS Regent credit and are accepted into recognized high achieving high schools.


MISSION STATEMENT


The Collegiate Academy for Mathematics and Personal Awareness Charter School (CAMPA) will ensure that our students achieve academic success and engage in practices that lead to self-confidence and physical and mental health.

Our students will not only leave CAMPA with a command of the skills necessary to perform at an elevated level in high school and college but will also develop the social tools required to thrive in our ever-changing global society.


Responsibilities:


Curriculum and Instruction:


  • Develops the school's climate to promote best practices to ensure an inquirybased approach to teaching and learning
  • Ensures that special education and English language learner teachers have the access and support needed to achieve to the best of the students' ability
  • Ensures that the curriculum is enriched with experiences and school trips to expose students to the world at large

Student Recruitment and Retention:


  • Creates a current online presence on the school's website
  • Partner with communitybased organizations

Strategic Leadership:


  • Works collaboratively to support and to improve systems and decisionmaking processes that strengthens student outcomes
  • Creates a datadriven culture that seeks continuous improvement
  • Strengthens, and maintains academic and culture systems and procedures
  • Plans, executes, and evaluates professional development opportunities for staff members
  • Utilizes meaningful feedback from students, staff, families, and the community to strengthen school programs and practices
  • Selects, integrates, and coaches teachers in the effective use of technological tools to strengthen school results and student achievement

Whole Student Focus:


  • Establishes, fosters, and sustains a culture of academic success and socialemotional development through partnerships with students, staff, families, and the community
  • Creates and sustains a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for scholars, families, and staff
  • Creates and implements a vision that exhibits a deep belief in the potential of all students and leads to improvement for all learners
  • Engages families and the community in support of each child's learning and the school's learning goals

Operational Management:


  • Creates and executes systems and processes to support the short
- and long-term goals of the school and supervises the effective use of resources

  • Develops systems to hire, to support and to retain highly effective staff
  • Efficiently manage the school budget and materials
  • Effectively communicate with the Board of Trustees
  • Effectively respond to the NYSED and other funding sources in a timely manner
  • Develop a system to complete NYSED reports in a timely manner

Staff and Reporting Relationships:


  • The principal reports to the Board of Trustees and supervises all school staff members

Qualifications:


  • NYS Certification in School Leadership
- preferred

  • Evidence of at least three years teaching experience with a proven history of elevating student achievement
  • At least threefive years of experience leading, managing, and coaching a team of adults and demonstrates ability to drive results through the supervision of others
  • Ability to be a bold, tireless, and engaging change agent and culture creator
  • Skilled in content, pedagogy, and datadriven instruction as evidenced by quantitative and qualitative data
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills, including an ability to collaborate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse perspectives
  • Strong organizational, selfmanagement, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manage many responsibilities simultaneously
  • Alignment with the educational philosophy and core beliefs of CAMPA Charter School

Compensation:


  • Initial salary offers for this position range from
    $130K $140K. Salary is determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience and levels of attained education.
