Who We Are:


Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County.

Are you a customer service professional that anticipates needs and takes proactive steps? Great We are currently seeking a Transportation Customer Service Representative to be responsible for dispatching and relaying information in real-time to both drivers and the transportation office staff.

Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED; one year of customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Three years of experience in public transportation preferred. Familiarity with electronic scheduling software preferred. Prior experience driving multi-passenger vehicle, preferably paratransit, and working knowledge of vehicle maintenance is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of customer service; of standard office practices and procedures.

Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public; to interact with a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds and of varying ages; to perform mathematical calculations; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.

Preferred: Knowledge of electronic scheduling software; working knowledge of Medicaid billing.

Additional Requirements:

  • Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
  • Preemployment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Answers the transportation hotline and provides general information on transportation programs and services.
  • Researches and resolves customer issues.
  • Performs data entry into the scheduling system (demand, trips, cancel, address changes, if needed
  • Completes and submits Medicaid transportation billing to Medicare monthly.
  • May serve as a backup van driver, as needed
  • Performs other work as required.
