Nikola Motor Company is seeking a
GSM (Global Supply Manager) to support the Nikola Supply Chain and purchasing team in navigating our requirements for our Metallics commodity.


As the Global Supply Manager, you will steer the sourcing, costing, negotiating, and strategic planning functions for the Metallic category in our revolutionary Fuel Cell and Battery Electric vehicles.

You will work closely within cross-functional teams to drive early supplier engagement throughout the development phases and product qualifications. You will build strong strategic relationships with supply partners to ensure project timing and cost targets are met.

You will determine the total cost of ownership for your commodities by understanding the underlying cost drivers supporting new business awards.


You are responsible for securing the best procurement solution (quality, price and timing), meeting the customer needs and aligned with the relevant Procurement Strategy.


Responsibilities:


  • Help establish and manage Nikola's Supply base to ensure the best Suppliers are selected to support all development, prototyping and production activity
  • Lead all RFP/RFQ activities for your respective area
  • Lead all contractual discussions with suppliers (Supply Agreements/NDAs/Terms and conditions/SOWs)
  • Analyze supplier proposals and negotiate all aspects of the quotation to drive down the total cost of ownership and ensure world class pricing
  • Manage supplier relationships including monitoring supplier performance, competitiveness and take necessary steps to address gaps and resolves issues
  • Support the efforts of supplier quality team for supplier development, qualification, and quality issue resolution
  • Recommend and effectively present to leadership sourcing strategies for multiple programs that meet the business objectives and timelines
  • Build relationships across multiple teams (Finance, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality) and work across different levels in the organization to ensure program timelines are achieved

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance or Engineering is required (master's degree is a plus).
  • Minimum of 5 years of purchasing related.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels (verbal and written).
  • Effective negotiating skills with problem solving and decisionmaking skills.
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word. Familiar with ERP systems.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects while meeting critical timing schedules.
  • Ability to work with crossfunctional teams.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and experience sourcing frame assemblies, castings and metallic systems.
  • New Product Introduction experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in Automotive, Commercial Vehicle, or an Electric Vehicle Startup is a plus.
  • Global Travel as needed 25%.
  • Must be very detail oriented.
  • Highly motivated and comfortable with change and a fastpaced environment.
  • Understands the supply chain process to detect areas we can improve and streamline.
  • Work collaboratively within internal teams to propose and implement solutions.
