Targeted Salary:
$72,000- $72,000 for five or more years of professional college counseling experience
- $70,00 for four years of professional college counseling experience
- $68,000 for two to three years of professional college counseling experience

POSITION OVERVIEW
Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women (BLSYW) seeks a dedicated Early College Coordinator to join our
College and Career Success office. This pivotal role involves supporting students and families as they navigate the
college access process, particularly during their junior and senior years. The coordinator will be tasked with
implementing a comprehensive college and career readiness program to ensure that every BLSYW student's
postsecondary needs are addressed. Responsibilities for this position will include supporting early college
providing guidance on financial aid options for students and their families. Given our focus as a college preparatory
STEAM school, strategic postsecondary planning is integral to our mission. This person will possess a deep
understanding of colleges and universities that have demonstrated success in supporting the college persistence of
low-income, first-generation, and students of color.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

_College Preparation Support_

  • Monitor and ensure that all upper school students are on track to graduate as determined by credit
count, student service learning hours, and grade point average

  • Assisting the Director and Principal in the selection of upper school course offerings that are
aligned with students' needs and school mission

seniors while adhering to deadlines

  • Provide workshops and communication to students and their families regarding the comprehensive
college admission process

  • Network with college admissions professionals to coordinate college admission representative
visits and travel with students for first-look visit

  • Plan student activities and workshops to maximize educational impact and promote a collegegoing
culture

  • Prepare all upper school students (with an emphasis on the eleventhgrade class) for the college
such as Monthly Classroom Presentations and Workshops, Campus Visits, and Family Meetings

  • Monitor college success through the following management tools and software, including but not
limited to SCOIR, Naviance, monthly family newsletters, and career development tools

  • Teach senior college preparation seminar in the fall and junior college preparation seminar in the
spring

  • Write individualized letters for students highlighting their academic, extracurricular, and personal
review recommendation letters submitted by staff

  • Prepare a quarterly report for the Director, CEO, and Board
