    Data Scientist (Temporary, Possible Temp-to-Hire)

    Hybrid Work 3x/week onsite, Up to 40 hours/week

    Non-Exempt, Hourly Pay Rate: $50-$65/hour.

    Location: San Diego, CA (La Jolla/UTC)

    National Funding is continuing to grow its Data Science Department and has an exciting opportunity for a Data Scientist Contractor.

    Data Scientist Major Responsibilities

    • Apply data science techniques in credit risk and marketing analytics domains.
    • Manipulate structured and unstructured datasets from disparate data sources. Perform data pre-processing, integration, cleansing, descriptive analysis and visualization.
    • Identify data issues, perform root cause analysis when necessary, and communicate with data owners.
    • Perform source data validation, statistical analysis, and documentation. Identify and test hypotheses, ensuring statistical significance, as part of building predictive models for business application.
    • Monitor and analyze model performance for validation and troubleshooting of issues that may arise.
    • Contribute to improving the overall analytic capabilities of the team.

    The Ideal Candidate

    • Quantitative background in statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or related discipline.
    • 2 years of experience in a related field i.e. data analyst/data scientist.
    • Understanding and application of various statistical analysis and machine learning methods.
    • Fluency in programming languages such as R, Python, SQL.
    • Understand lending industry and process. Experience in business loan is a plus.
    • Strong programming practices utilizing version control systems (e.g. Git)
    • Strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of credit risk models and portfolio risk management..
    • Knowledge of marketing strategies, customer segmentation techniques and campaign management.
    • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audience.
