- Accountable for all ancillary functions linked to breast imaging and processing reports, scheduling, patient call-backs, and process improvement related to mammography. Efficiently utilizes HIS/RIS Computer System functions for complete procedure recording.
- Thoroughly reviews prior imaging studies and medical history before patient imaging, making necessary updates and effectively communicating changes to the Radiologist. Ensures compliance with ACR, Joint Commission, and other regulatory bodies regarding daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly Quality Control (QC) measures, documenting to meet x-ray system, workstations, PACS and CAD compliance requirements.
- Conducts patient imaging as per departmental protocol, adjusting equipment, angles, heights, paddles, and positioning techniques while adhering to ACR Image wisely guidelines and minimizing repeat images. Troubleshoots technical factors on a patient-specific basis to achieve quality images.
- Adheres to safety protocols, departmental rules, and procedures, and utilizes automatic exposure control to minimize radiation dose. Demonstrates service excellence behaviors, assisting non-English-speaking patients through language line service during exams, and adheres to infection control standards. Performs mammography screenings, diagnostic mammography, stereotactic breast biopsies, and breast needle localizations.
- Operates on the mobile mammography unit for screening mammograms, embodying CARE values - Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Expertise. Carries out assigned job duties diligently.

Mammographer 1 plays a crucial role as a licensed radiologic technologist specializing in General Radiography and holding ARRT certification in Mammography in the state of Florida. Meeting the essential requirements outlined by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and FDA guidelines for mammography personnel, this professional conducts Digital and 3D Breast Tomosynthesis Mammography along with various breast procedures.
Typically involves 1 to 3 years of relevant experience, with previous mammographer and ARRT (M) experience highly preferred.
High School diploma is a prerequisite, while an Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree is advantageous.
Valid Florida state license as a Radiology Technologist is mandatory, alongside a requirement for ARRT Mammography certification within the first year of employment. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and other relevant life support certifications for Healthcare Providers must be obtained upon hiring and maintained throughout the employment tenure at JHS.
