Position Description What We Do**The Texas Department of Information Resources is the state agency charged with protecting the state's data and critical technology infrastructure, managing a multi-million-dollar cooperative contracts program, and providing strategic technology leadership, solutions, and innovation to all levels of Texas government. DIR is a fast-paced and collaborative environment with highly motivated and engaged employees dedicated to achieving the best value for the state.


Position Summary
This internship will perform complex (journey-level) clerical work. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

This internship provides an opportunity to learn about the state information security policies and standards, guidance on best practices, improve security awareness training engagement, monitor, and analyze results, help coordinate and support OCISO events, and promote information sharing throughout the public sector cybersecurity community.

This position may have the opportunity to aid and assist multiple departments within OCISO to gain a wide variety of knowledge as a cybersecurity professional.


  • Support the Texas Department of Information Resource Office of the Chief Information Security Officer
  • Assist in the preparation of advertisements and outreach for higher education, state agencies, and city/county/local organizations.
  • Research guidelines and standards for managing statewide information assets related to risks, threats, and vulnerabilities.
  • Analyze data and metrics for customer engagement of security services and assist with proposal of action items to increase participation and reporting on the effectiveness that security services provide.
  • Research and compile a list of free cybersecurity awareness resources available to all Texans.
  • Assists in the research and analysis of state information security data and trends to develop reports and recommendations.
  • Collaborates with other teams (Security Services, Security Operations, Cyber Coordination, Policy, and Governance) as necessary within the OCISO on special projects.
  • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
