    The Hired Guns are seeking a Head of Talent Acquisition for an independent advisory group solving colossal problems for the government.

    Pack your bags, because there's a choice relocation offer on the table to a candidate looking to do good in a bucolic — but very connected — part of the country.

    Overseeing a big team, you'll guide the assessment and vetting of incoming technicians, scientists, analysts, and engineers. You'll have plenty of real metrics to use in your searches.

    Even better, you'll still engage on a personal level; you'll help the company analyze itself as its supporting role in government takes on a broader scope.

    You'll build the company you want to work at by hiring assets for the scrupulously ethical culture you've mapped out.

    You'll also represent the company at events as one of the main faces and voices to get people as excited about working there as you are.

    Assembling teams here isn't just "set it and forget it".

    With employees numbering in the thousands, you'll check in with each sector constantly to ensure that new hirees complement and supplement the work style.

    Employee investment is one big reason prospective employees join, so you'll find people who have callings, rather than careers. You know the right person for each job before either they or it becomes available.
    What Success Looks Like
    Creating a new version of a decades-old institution isn't a lark to increase quarterly profits.

    You need to take an unflinching measurement of the challenges ahead for the company and for your own role, and prepare action plans that your superstar hires can execute.

    Hired Gun Profile

    You put in your time at an agency, then took your skills in-house to stick with a single company until you knew it inside and out.

    Maybe you've done some time on the HRBP side of things. You see yourself as a culture chief, tending a living garden rather than plucking a bouquet. You relish your shot to transform a large company while preserving what's good about it.

    While others crawl LinkedIn as the need arises, you already have a fantasy league dream team assembled, and you're working — not waiting — on inducting them.

    You develop recruitment models in your head even while sitting on the porch drinking lemonade on summer evenings, but you also remind yourself to enjoy the lemonade, because you know a finer world is the point of all your hard work.

    Inside Skinny
    Strategy and tactical tools are your left-hand/right-hand method.

    Because you understand that marketing a company is as much internal as external, you know the importance of getting your colleagues on board with your vision of how great the organization can be.

    If you've worked in a high-volume, extremely innovative company that we're not saying is Amazon but is definitely a lot like Amazon, you'll fit right in.

    Net-Net
    This is a lot more senior than a line-manager role. It's the transition point you've been looking for to build the chrysalis from which this expanding organization will emerge.
