Job Description and Qualifications


The Executive Director is a mission-driven leader with executive, non-profit level experience working with the WAHFH Board of the Directors to deliver on strategic plans, fundraising objectives, and planned business growth to provide affordable housing opportunities within the Wickenburg area community.


Reports to:
Executive Board Chair and Board of Directors


Planning and Strategy
Actively participate with Board of Directors to develop organization goals and business plans for current and future years.

Plan strategy and develop goals, objectives, and actions to achieve the Board of Directors directives and mission.

Assist Board of Directors to evaluate policy changes and updates and implement as necessary.

Provide input to Board of Director meeting agenda and support the activities of all Board committees.


Finance
Responsible for the financial, operational, and administrative performance of the affiliate and its ReStore operations.


Recommend annual budget for Board of Directors approval and prudently manage the affiliate's resources within budget, revising plans and spending as appropriate.

Review financial statements and staff payroll to determine progress and budget status.

Work closely with the Finance Committee and/or Treasurer to administer fiscal control, accountability, and budget control.


Marketing, Communications and Community Relations:

Speak effectively in public on behalf of WAHFH in civic, faith-based and corporate settings.


Foster and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, the public, local City government, and community service agencies.


Lead the efforts for all marketing and communications within the organizational structure including newsletter development, social media management, press releases, an annual report to the community and other written pieces.

Ensure that all graphic design or written content is within the context of HFHI brand standards. Represents WAHFH in the community through any external public relations including media appearances, community presentation requests, etc.

Interfaces with professional, economic development, religious and social service groups in the community and serves on at least one (minimum) community board or committee.


Grants and Fundraising
Develop and coordinate financial programs to provide funding for new or continuing operations and fundraising efforts.

Serve as the principal liaison to foundations, corporations, and faith groups.


Develop resources, research funding sources, and write proposals to a variety of organizations to secure funding to support WAHFH's mission.


Work with the Board of Directors to build a positive image of the affiliate and generate funds for its continued operation and mission.

Oversee and report on grant income, awards, and donations.


Staff Supervision


Provide leadership and supervision to the ReStore Manager and support the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a Habitat ReStore.

Ensure that the ReStore is profitable with an annual business plan in place that supports the financial direction of the overall organization as outlined in the Strategic Plan.


Work with the Construction Manager to supervise site construction and insure appropriate onsite training and safety for volunteers is in place and implemented.

Support Family Services and Family Support for effective recruitment, processing, selection, and care of partner families.


Work with Volunteer Committee to develop and implement strategies for increasing communication, volunteer activity and financial support from local church congregations and other faith-based groups.

Committed advocate for the WAHFH mission.


Willing to learn and understand the HFHI ministry and know that the role of the Executive Director, while critically important, is only a part of the larger goal.


Skills and Experience
Ability to effectively articulate the mission and vision of HFHI and WAHFH through excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Public speaking skills and prior experience. Experience speaking with public leaders and senior executives is preferrable.

Ability to cultivate partnerships within the community, government, and corporations to allow successful fundraising and partnering opportunities.

Ability to exercise sound reasoning and good judgement in decision making.

Ability to work collaboratively with both staff and volunteers and to effectively supervise staff and budgets.

Microsoft office suite - Skilled in the use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Experience working with and utilizing social media sites and web platforms to promote organization mission, donations, and business growth.

Strong financial acumen.

Demonstrated leadership abilities, management, and organizational skills.

Ability to write effectively and succinctly and to synthesize complex and/or diverse information.
