Job Description: 6-12 ESL/ELL Teacher for ELA
(ESL newcomer and intermediate students)
Must have both ELA and ESL Endorsement.
Chicago Math and Science Academy is a Level 1+ school in Rogers Parking serving students grades 6 through 12. We are currently hiring for an ESL/ELL Teacher.


Essential Job Functions:

• Provide personalized academic and language instruction to English Learners in ESL, sheltered instruction, English Language Development, and ESL strategies.
• Provide direct ESL services and instruction to identified students in pushin and pullout instruction
• Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize appropriate instructional techniques that enable limited English proficient students to overcome barriers
• Adapt curriculum and provide tailored academic instruction as appropriate and in alignment with student goals and program mode
• Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address learning needs
• Obtains training for and assists with the administration of language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student language proficiency (WIDA screenings and ACCESS testing)
• Maintains organized records of documentation regarding student achievement in core courses
• Collaborate and coordinate with staff to support students experiencing academic performance challenges related to English language learning
• Interprets student performance data and implements appropriate support structures
• Communicates and confers effectively both orally and in written form with students, parents, colleagues, and administration
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Licensure: Valid Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL)

Endorsement:English as a Second Language (ESL) (Grades 6-12)
AND English Language arts (6-12)

• Bachelor's degree with experience working in a multicultural setting
• Knowledge of evidencebased language acquisition strategies

Desired Qualifications:

• Bilingual Spanish Endorsement
• Bilingual English/Spanish

Benefits:

• Starting Salary: $60,000_
• Education: Plus $1,000 for master's degree, $2,000 for doctorate degree._
• Experience: Plus $1,000/yr up to 10 years. (K12 prof teaching) $250 for years 1120_
