Overview

Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail-oriented
Scientific Program Manager to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Office of the Director (OD), Office of Science Management and Operations (OSMO).


Technical Requirements:


  • Work closely with the Senior Advisor on Research in Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to facilitate all activities related to the regional portfolio, including to develop regionspecific research initiatives.
  • Serve as the Secretariat of the MENA Regional Advisory Panel (RAP) to include coordination of all relevant documentation, assistance scheduling, and planning working groups meetings, coordination of reporting, and tracking all activities. Under the guidance of the Senior Advisor on Research in MENA, provide administrative support, coordination, and reporting for MENA RAP and other meetings and committees associated with NIAID's MENA Initiative. Deliverables include scheduling presenters, sending meeting invitations, maintaining participant list, developing agenda, and preparing meeting minutes.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for program related meetings. Maintain and organize a library of slides.
  • Prepare reports, meeting minutes, analyses, background materials, and other materials to support NIAID's global health activities and interests in the MENA region. Work with NIAID staff to receive internal clearance of such documents; attend meetings related to the preparation of such documents; and assist with writing and editing functions, to include accuracy, format, grammar, and conformance with established guidelines.
  • Prepare a variety of correspondence and sciencerelated documents for dissemination from the appropriate officials.
  • Assist in the liaison with foreign scientists and institutions in the MENA region for the coordination and support of NIAID programmatic activities.
  • Assist in developing and conducting evaluations of international research programs. Prepare final reports and presentations of results.
  • Assist in identifying ideas for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of office programs, procedures, and operations.
  • Attend meetings and conferences that discuss a wide range of research, administrative, and technical topics related to the activities of NIAID and provide written and oral reports to NIAID staff.

Specific Qualifications:


  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant global research program management experience is required.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years experience working in the Middle East and North Africa Region is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and PowerPoint, required.
  • Fluent in English. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required.
  • Familiarity with NIH and biomedical research supported by the U.S. Government is highly desirable.
  • Global and biomedical research program management expertise, preferably in the field of immunology and infectious diseases, and biomedical research in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is required.
