We are currently seeking an Emergency Coordination Officer for Rescue Missions (m/f/d) to join our team in Elkton, MD as soon as possible.


We are a civilian aid organization that was founded in 2015 to put an end to the loss of lives in the Mediterranean Sea.

With our rescue ship, we search for people in distress on the deadliest migration route in the world and fight against the daily loss of lives at sea.

Because we believe that every life counts.


Our Sea-Eye headquarters is located in Regensburg, but many of our employees live in other parts of Germany and beyond, so we primarily work from home and collaborate digitally and over the phone.

The SAROPS department is responsible for planning and executing rescue missions and operations.

The following areas are part of the department:

Missions & Operations (including onshore mission management), Medical Team, Crew Training, RHIB Team, Post Rescue Team, and the Sea-Eye Academy.


Responsibilities:

  • Onshore mission management and coordination
  • Planning, coordinating, and evaluating missions, as well as developing and improving strategies and processes
  • Collaboration and communication with other departments at Sea-Eye, other NGOs, and partners, especially in the field of search and rescue
  • Training and partially leading small teams (mainly volunteers)

Qualifications:

  • Indepth understanding of search and rescue, migration, and refugee issues
  • Basic knowledge of maritime operations (experience in maritime or emergency services is an advantage)
  • Excellent written
