The Materials Manager will develop, direct, and execute strategies to successfully manage the Company's total supply chain.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Leads overall direction of the supply chain, purchasing and planning functions of OMT-Veyhl and set appropriate goals and policies to assure its operations and contribution to the company.
  • Oversees domestic and international contracts and sourcing of materials, purchasing, production planning, inventory management, and warehousing.
  • Creates and mentors a motivated, dynamic team of purchasing and scheduling professionals.
  • Support and integrate with internal and external customers and suppliers all OMT-Veyhl lean processes and activities.
  • Explore, analyze, define and identify the applicable processes within the ERP System (Navision) that are used, or could be used, to improve and simplify the Company's ordering and forecasting process.
  • Establishing and maintaining measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities to include, but not limited to, supplier performance, supplier quality, schedule attainment, Internal on time delivery, inventory turns, and material shortage elimination.
  • Works jointly with other functional areas to coordinate tactical decisions within the overall strategic direction.
  • Manage programs for Supplier Rating Systems, Supplier/Company Cost Reduction Programs, Annual Pricing Reviews.
  • Lead inventory accuracy initiatives (inventories, cycle counting)
  • Supports New Product Development and Cost Reduction activity.
  • Manages all activities that develop relationships with suppliers.
  • Complies with safety and corporate guidelines and business ethics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and problemsolving skills.
  • Extensive understanding of inventory and associated transactions.
  • Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of material work planning and methods, processes and procedures.
  • Ability to negotiate vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements. Able to adjust approach according to tolerances required for each job.
  • Adept in using ERP and Windows based tools.
  • Strong analytical skills required. Must be detailoriented and pay close attention to accuracy.
  • Strong planning skills required.
  • Team player with constructive and respectful attitude.
  • Project management skills.
  • Must be able to work quickly and independently with mínimal supervision.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Three to five years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metals manufacturing.
  • Experience with ERP / inventory control systems.
  • Minimum 2 years purchasing supervision experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange accurate information with coworkers.
  • The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to traverse within the facility.
  • The employee will constantly operate equipment and handle material that requires dexterity, grip, and detection of minute details in materials, tools and/or equipment.
  • The employee may be required to ascend/descend and position themselves around equipment, tools, and fixturing.
  • The employee must frequently move, lift, and/or transport components, tools, and equipment ranging from pounds.
  • Specific abilities required by this job include the ability to perceive items up close, observe items in the distance, distinguish between colors, and the ability to adjust focus.
