CAFETERIA ASSISTANT
Thurgood Marshall Academy is a college-preparatory, law-themed high school located in the Anacostia
neighborhood in southeast Washington, DC—one of the most under-served community in the District of
Columbia. Thurgood Marshall Academy currently serves approximately 400 students in grades 9-12.


Position & Qualifications
Thurgood Marshall Academy is currently accepting resumes for a temporary cafeteria staff worker. The
start date is no later than June 1, 2024.

Applicants should be passionate, energetic, and dedicated to working with under-served youth.

Employment is contingent on a background check that shows the worker is suitable for
employment in a school.

Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.


Status
The position of Cafeteria Assistant is a seasonal, part-time, hourly position with benefits.


Duties and Responsibilities
Cafeteria Assistants manage delivery of food and tracking of meal service, serve food, and clean the
kitchen. Cafeteria assistants occasionally assist with non-food-service projects, such as light clerical
work or moving supplies.***The Cafeteria Assistant at Thurgood Marshall Academy is responsible for

cafeteria set-up (breakfast and lunch)

serving food

cafeteria clean-up (wipe down appliances, serving area, microwaves etc.)

assisting Student Affairs with supervision of the lunchroom as assigned

keeping all certifications current

other duties as assigned
