THIS ROLE:

The Jr.

Project Manager/ Marine Construction Project Engineer is responsible for assisting in the management of all aspects of marine construction projects and supporting the operations team.

This will include researching and providing technical/operational expertise to the Bid Team, participating in the preparation of the proposal, labor and resource planning with operations and crewing, scheduling, reviewing complex project requirements/specifications/drawings, and executing the project to completion and final approval.

The position will also be utilized by the marine operations team for assistance with other project management and organizational tasks.


WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Support Marine Construction PM by organizing and supervising specific field operations as assigned during simultaneous project activities.
  • Assist in the development of project work plans that meet client requirements and timelines.
  • Collaborate with PM to write work scopes and use software/ procedures to engage the field supervisors who schedule personnel and tooling to perform them.
  • Assist the team with gathering and reviewing vendor quotes for proposals or inhouse operations.
  • Assist administratively in the preparation of proposal and bid packages.
  • Execute all project scheduling with Critical Path Method (CPM) in practice.
  • Verify and report field progress to then collaborate to reestablish priorities continuously.
  • Maintain organized and thorough recordkeeping throughout all projects.
  • Lead, supervise and assist crew with key project duties.
  • Document and share field conditions as requested by Management and office staff for project planning and design.
  • Interact with external clients and formally report task progress updates to any vested parties.
  • Receive direction from senior team members for complex project tasks and develop them into deliverables.
  • Provide administrative support to the Bid Team to assist in the preparation of proposals.
  • Develop plan for project tasks and regularly track and report milestones back to all parties.
  • Identify potential conflicts or delays in the project timeline and work to resolve.
  • Manage resources needed to successfully complete the project tasks.
  • Track and report project expenditures to team.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies.

WHO YOU ARE:


Certifications and Other Requirements

  • 35 years of project management experience, marine construction projects preferred, but not required.
  • USACE QC certification desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 scheduling software a plus
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD a plus
  • Ability to operate tablets (Microsoft Windows).
  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record required.

Mental Aptitudes

  • Demonstrate knowledge of construction specifications. Marine Construction preferred, not required.
  • Ability to identify and anticipate task sequence conflicts, and efficiency opportunities.
  • Selfmotivated team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both written and verbally.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects that vary in nature and scope.
  • Strong management and organizational skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal or no guidance but know when to ask for help.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in an environment with many interruptions.
  • Confidence to initiate communication with crewmembers and staff.
  • Work outside as well as on board a vessel.
  • Must comply with all work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health.

Physical Aptitudes

  • Must meet "fit for duty" requirements upon job offer (preemployment physical and drug test). The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces.
