Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking a Sign Language Interpreter to join the Language Services team This role is full-time DAYS working varied shift and schedules as needed by the department.


Requirements for consideration:


  • Associate Degree
    or HS Diploma/GED and equivalent years of experience required.
  • 3 years of experience with Speech Language Pathology
  • Certifications: Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level three
    or Certified by RID
    or NAD.

Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Provides accurate, complete and transparent interpretation services to facilitate prompt and accurate communication between patients, their families and staff.
  • Prioritizes competing demands from staff requesting medical interpreter services.
  • Works as a member of the departmental team to ensure continuity of patient care for deaf patients.
  • Ensures that all policies and procedures related to processes, services and team member work rules are adhered to.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all matters related to patient care and visitor issues on deaf patients, families and companions.
  • Records and monitors interpretation activities according to hospital and department standards.
  • Ensures that all documentation requirements needed to maintain department databases are complete and in compliance to standards.
  • Facilitates access to other resources for the deaf and hard of hearing as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
