Job Summary:

Assist in the operation of

Special Education Services:
Program Leadership, Compliance Monitoring, Staff Development


Key Responsibility and Essential Duties:


  • Collaborate on the creation and submission of Child Count, Special Education Plan, compliance monitoring, and any corrective action plans.
  • Develop and create district and state reports and other analyses related to states and federal regulations.
  • Check the reliability and validity, and accuracy data submitted by school staff through required special education documentation and the district approved Special Education and Student Information Systems.
  • Monitor data management systems (POWERSCHOOL)
  • Work with the compliance requirements from the PA Department of Education and Bureau of Special Education as they change, and adjust approach accordingly.
  • Prepare Data to prepare for Act 16, December 1 Child Count, and July 8 Transition/Exiting Collection reports and submit to DCIU.
  • Taking Administrative lead coordinating integration of new special education systems when needed and providing professional development and provide technical assistance to end users
  • Maintain Special Services End
- use programs administrative access providing end users support and professional development.


  • Complete monthly compliance updated and distribute to Special Education Director.
  • Monitor IEP and ER/RR paperwork for compliance.
  • Attend IEP meetings and serve in the role of the LEA in the absence of or in conjunction with the Special Education Director.
  • Collaborates with school problem solving/MTSS teams when students are referred for special education referrals.
  • Assists HR and principals in the selection and retention of highly qualified special education teachers.
  • Assist with the implementation and development of Extended School Year Annually.
  • Work with building administration, directors, school psychologist, special education teachers, parents, and families to ensure appropriate services for identified students.
  • Attend IEP, MDT, and interagency meetings that are placed out of district.
  • PCA collaboration with PCA administrator/ and competency training that can be an added responsibility.

Qualifications:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily under the general supervision of the Director of Special Education.

The purpose of this position is to work with schools to address procedural compliance, educational accountability, and instructional improvement and to promote the availability of a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment for all students with disabilities.

The qualifications and requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skills, and/or ability necessary.


  • Decision making skills are significant to the job, affecting large segment of the organization, students, teachers, and parents.
  • Knowledge of Special Education Law and regulations is required.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state vehicle operator's license and a good driving record
  • Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements.

Level of Compensation:
Step and Track placement as determined based on collective bargaining agreement
