    Position Summary

    The Teen Leadership Program Lead is responsible for providing support to the Youth Programs Manager and Children, Youth and Family Executive Director.

    The positions administrative responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with program planning and execution such as, registration, scheduling and correspondence including emails and phone calls.

    Essential Position Responsibilities

    In conjunction with the Youth Programs Coordinator, create Desired Learning Outcomes (DLOs) for the Madrichim (Counselor-In-Training) Program and facilitate teen engagement throughout summertime.

    Implement and oversee the execution of the Madrichim program and similar teen events.
    Regularly provide direction and feedback to program participants alongside weekly reviews.
    Serve as a point of contact for parents during drop off and pick up.
    Assist with and fill in for summer camp counselors where needed.
    Strong lesson planning skills required with an emphasis on youth engagement through adult guidance. Campers and Madrichim should be the primary engagers with lesson plans with counselors being facilitators.
    Communicate with parents about their teens progress in the program.
    Driving JCC trips with both children and adults if necessary.
    Strong computer skills including Daxko, Word, Excel and Outlook
    Attend all department meetings and trainings.
    Mandatory staff training on June 17, 2024-June 21, 2024.
    Assist with administrative duties involving the entirety of camp.
    Maintain the highest quality of courtesy, friendliness and service excellence toward members, visitors, and other staff.
    Understand and support the Long Beach/Alpert JCCs mission and values.
    Work and communicate effectively with all staff members.
    Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

    Requirements:
    Skills
    Ability to prioritize and remain organized while managing multiple projects
    Ability to plan and lead a wide variety of recreational group programs
    Ability to communicate effectively written and verbal
    Broad knowledge of Jewish history, traditions and culture
    React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
    Broad knowledge of child, youth and teen development
    Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

    Education, Experience and Requirements
    Associate Degree (A. A.) preferred
    At least one years of administrative, or operations experience, preferably at a nonprofit or summer camp

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the Teen Leadership Program Lead is regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.

    This person is required to move about the entire building and grounds, throw, catch, bend, squat, and kick amongst other related movement.

    It is also necessary to pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

    Work Environment
    Primarily the Youth Department is comprised of offices, classrooms, or Computer Labs. Noise level, activities and clutter will be as normal to childcare environments.

    Some programs and responsibilities will occur in other parts of the campus or at off-site venues not owned or under the control of the Jewish Long Beach/AJCC.
