The Medical Receptionist is responsible for welcoming and providing exemplary customer service to all our incoming patients at Mighty Behavioral Health.
The person in this position is responsible for registering patients and coordinating with the rest of the team to provide a timely turnaround for the patient.
This individual responds to patient questions and concerns with a sense of urgency and kindness, both on the telephone and in person and is responsible for all paperwork associated with patient registration.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Greeting and welcoming patients.
- Responds to patients and /or visitor's minor questions and concerns, and refer to supervisor when necessary, in an expedient manner.
- Verifies, collects, and updates proper insurance and patient registration information to ensure proper billing
- Obtaining prior authorization for all programs of MBHS
- Answering phone calls in a prompt and polite manner.
- Schedules, reschedules or cancels new or current patients, confirms appointments and notifies staff of changes when necessary.
- Maintains awareness of temperament/mood of patients in lobby in order to ensure optimal service experience and curtail any frustrations or communication that could affect the experience of other patients. Informing Office Manager waiting room wait times, patient inquiries, etc.
- Communicates delays in appointments in a timely fashion and offers rescheduling in circumstances where delays could be significant.
- Coordinate all aspects of referrals ordered by MBH providers
- Providing outstanding customer service to every patient
QUALIFICATIONS
- A High School Degree
- Happy, welcoming, and cando attitude with patients, coworkers, and visitors
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Detailoriented and a team player
- Computer proficiency and keyboarding skills
- Flexible/adaptable nature to work in a continuously evolving environment
- Passion for helping others in a healthcare environment
- Ability to effectively interact with physicians, patients, other staff members and visitors
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience working in any highvolume/highintensity outpatient mental health clinic
- Experience in Optum Maryland Incedo System
Work requires hand dexterity for operating a keyboard, stooping and bending to files and supplies, and sitting for extended periods of time.
Pay:
$18.00 per hour
