- Ability to advise and coordinate patient account information with other department staff, clinical staff and or UR/Case management.
- Articulates processes and forms to patients ensures that all documents are properly signed and witnessed as required.
- Maintain current registration requirements.
- The Specialist will interview the patient/guarantor to obtain complete demographic, clinical, billing, and insurance information.
- Effectively communicates face to face and or on the phone with customers.
- Complete all necessary follow up to ensure a smooth business operation.
- Call insurance companies for precertification's and authorizations.
- Able to be flexible and responsive to maintain positive patient and staff relations.
- Maintains compliance with all applicable policies and procedures, including, but not limited to all departmental and functional policy and procedures.

- Able to perform according to the workflow as it is dependent on the number of patients presenting for service and the time of day.
- Identify trends in system problems, training, or procedural concerns.
- Capacity to recognize those accounts that should be referred to management for assistance. Notifies management in changes in workload to maximize productivity.
- The Specialist will be trained to work all areas of Patient Access as it relates to Patient Registration and scheduling.
- Requires a full understanding of down time registration.
- Provides training to new Patient Access Associates in specific areas of Patient Access as it relates to patient registration and scheduling.
- Demonstrate initiative and willingness to help others on a consistent basis.
- Provide coverage as assigned within the Rehab Patient Access departments.
- On call maybe required as needed. Also coverage may be required for critical job duties for both scheduled and unscheduled absences.
- Participate and attend team meetings.
- Participate in performance improvement and assist to identify inefficiencies and initiates team building.
- Completes assigned duties as requested.
