Description

The CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machinist plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process by operating computer-controlled machinery to produce precision parts and components.

Utilizing their expertise in programming, setup, and operation of CNC equipment, the CNC Machinist ensures the efficient and accurate production of machined parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.

This role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements, including dimensions, tolerances, and materials.
  • Familiar with M & Gcode programming to perform machining operations such as milling, turning, drilling, and grinding.
  • Set up and prepare CNC machines for production runs, including loading raw materials, installing cutting tools, and establishing workpiece offsets.
  • Conduct machine tooling and fixture adjustments to optimize machining processes and ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish quality.
  • Monitor CNC machining processes, including cutting speeds, feeds, and tool paths, to maintain quality standards and prevent deviations from specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC equipment, such as tool changes, and machine calibration, to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards.
  • Make necessary adjustments to CNC programs, tool offsets, and machine settings to correct deviations and optimize part quality and production efficiency.
  • Document production activities, including machine setup details, production counts, and quality inspection results, using computerized systems or Tooling sheets.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to resolve machining issues, implement process improvements, and meet production targets.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and regulations while operating CNC equipment and handling hazardous materials to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Participate in training programs and professional development activities to enhance CNC machining skills, stay current with technological advancements, and improve overall job performance.
  • Provide training and technical support to other personnel, this may include other departments personnel as well as other employees withing your classification.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or apprenticeship in CNC machining or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a CNC machinist or operator in a manufacturing environment, with expertise in programming, setup, and operation of CNC equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages (e.g., Gcode, Mcode)
  • Familiarity with a variety of CNC machines, such as mills, lathes, grinders.
  • Ability to perform precision machining operations and use measuring tools and instruments to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail to identify and resolve machining issues and optimize production processes.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with crossfunctional teams and communicate production status and quality issues.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to producing highquality products while adhering to production schedules and deadlines.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials, and operate machinery in a manufacturing environment.
