Salary & Compensation

  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven years. Progressive responsibility and experience in the profession or similar professional experience in a nonprofit, membership/volunteer driven or other related environment. (required)
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of development in a major research university. (required)
  • Excellent donor, alumni relations or similar constituent basedrelationship skills with superior working knowledge of the principles and practices of university development and alumni relations. (required)
  • Progressively responsible experience in the design, implementation and management of complex development or comparable programs such as developing sophisticated strategies for successful cultivation and solicitation of annual/major gifts or solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity. (required)
  • Strong communication skills to express, both verbally and in writing, the mission of the University and the fundraising goals of the campus, especially as they relate to The Herb Alpert School of Music. (required)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with the Dean, faculty, and administration; central development; major donor prospects; and volunteers. (required)
  • Effective and compelling verbal communication skills to make persuasive oral presentations to senior management and internal and external constituencies, and to conduct participatory meetings, secure approval for decisions, and advise and collaborate with others. (required)
  • Knowledge of and relationships within the arts and cultural communities (especially Los Angeles) is a strong plus. (preferred)
  • Management and administrative skills to organize, direct, motivate and evaluate other professionals and volunteers. (required)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to develop creative, credible solutions, recommendations and programs as well to define and implement special development or alumni relations projects. (required)
  • Superior skill in writing effective correspondences, funding proposals for major gifts and creative solicitation materials. (required)
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as required and to travel to achieve stated goals. (required)
