**Job Summary:**

The Cook is responsible for preparing meals and following Heinens established recipes within a food production environment at a Heinens Store location. This includes a variety of foods that require only a short preparation time. The cook must follow all food health and safety procedures, at all times.

**Responsibilities:**

Prepare a variety of foods, such as sandwiches, wraps, trays, according to customers' orders following approved procedures.

Prepare various grilled, fried and baked foods.

Utilize various kitchen equipment including: grill, oven, steamer, slicer, food processor, rotisserie oven, tilt skillet, open fryer, gas stove, pressure fryer, etc.

Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits, vegetables and meats, to prepare for cooking or serving.

Follow Heinens panning, packaging, and merchandising standards.

Execute proper production levels based on forecasting.

Perform pre and post operational checks daily for sanitation and safety.

Rotate product based on expiration.

Take and record temperature of food and food storage areas, such as refrigerators and freezers.

Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware.

Utilize food safety logs, label and date product.

Create, submit and follow-up on orders, as appropriate.

Utilize menu planning and menu planning tool.

Perform weekly inventory.

Prioritize daily work based on varying business needs.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications:**

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Ability to read and follow directions and recipes.

Cooking experience, knowledge, and skills.

Must possess a sense of urgency and the ability to work independently, or on a team, to achieve daily tasks.

Deliver high level of customer service and communication with associates and customers.

Knowledge of ingredients and product quality.

Strong time management skills, planning skills, and organizing skills.

Flexible and adaptable; able to cope with unexpected events.

Ability to make appropriate decisions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Must be willing to work the amount of hours required to meet company objectives.

Must be production driven with the ability to work continuously on repetitive tasks while standing.

Ability to work in hot and cold environment.

Must possess the ability to lift up to 75lbs. of product.
